Fazilov Shavkat Khayrullayevich

Doctor of Technical Sciences (1990), professor. He graduated from Tashkent Polytechnic Institute in 1971. He served as Director General of the “Cybernetics” Research and Production Association of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, director of the Institute of Cybernetics under the Scientific and Technical Center “Modern Information Technologies”, and deputy director for scientific affairs of the Scientific-Innovation Center of Information and Communication Technologies under TUIT. He is currently head of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Laboratory at the Research Institute for the Development of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence. Sh. Fazilov’s scientific achievements are associated with developing pattern-recognition theory for studying objects, phenomena, and processes that cannot be described rigorously in mathematical terms, and with creating practical artificial-intelligence systems. Under his leadership, a scientific school is developing the theoretical foundations of biometric technologies for personal identification. Methods have been developed for face recognition using algorithmic compositions and for identifying individuals from iris and ear images. Sh. Fazilov is the author of 4 monographs, 2 study guides, 2 patents for inventions and utility models, and 260 scientific articles. Under his scientific supervision, 4 Doctors of Science, 17 Candidates of Science, and PhD researchers in technical sciences were trained.
