A robot has been created to help people with disabilities move around

Researchers at Korea's Advanced Institute have developed a robot that enables people with disabilities to move around.

The robot is designed for people with paralysis and those who have suffered a stroke; by wearing it, patients can move around.

The research team has been working continuously on this wearable robot since 2015. In particular, by 2020 the team had increased the robot's walking speed to 3.2 km per hour. In addition, the robot demonstrated its ability to overcome obstacles that may be encountered in everyday life, such as narrow corridors, doors, and stairs.

“The robot we have presented is much more convenient than others. For example, patients do not need anyone's help to use the robot; instead, they can put it on while seated in a wheelchair,” said Professor Kyoungchul Kong.

It should be noted that this robot achieved high results at the “The Kibatlon” competition held on 27 October.
