Researchers at the University of South Australia have developed an artificial intelligence algorithm that detects diseases in people by the color of their tongues.

By analyzing the color of a person’s tongue, the algorithm can diagnose diabetes, stroke, anemia, asthma, COVID-19, as well as a number of vascular and gastrointestinal diseases.

According to the journal “Technologies,” the algorithm was tested using 60 tongue images. As a result, the model achieved 98% accuracy.

“We aimed to further improve this algorithm to make disease detection affordable, safe, effective, and convenient,” Professor Javaan Chahl noted.
