Researchers at the Italian Institute of Technology (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia) have developed an innovative prosthetic foot.
Named “SoftFoot Pro,” the prosthesis weighs approximately 450 grams and can support loads of up to 100 kilograms. The device is made of an aluminum alloy and fitted with five high-strength plastic chains that function as toes.
What sets this prosthesis apart from other prosthetic feet is that it changes its shape depending on the situation and can adapt to any obstacles.
It is worth noting that this robot was tested through international collaboration with Hannover Medical School (MHH, Hannover, Germany) and the Medical University of Vienna (MUV, Vienna, Austria).
