One of the common types of robots designed to move in different environments is the six-legged “Hexapod” robot. Their design is often inspired by animals, enabling them to monitor forests and complex environments and carry out search operations during natural disasters.

Researchers at the High Applied Science and Technology Institute have expanded the capabilities of the “Hexapod” robot.

According to researcher Kifah Helal, the team applied “CPG” neurons to each of the “Hexapod”’s legs, controlled by a separate rhythmic signal. This enables the robots to swim, walk, and run like humans and animals.

Kifah Helal and his team also plan to test this robot soon.
